Report: The days actions station Halberstadt26.08.04 The convey left from HANOVER at about 10 am and arrived infront of the lager in Halberstadt at aboust 1.10pm. The convoy was welcomed by a crowd of about 70 ref s from the lager. The gates of the lager were not guarded by policemen the was a police van at about 50 m away from the main entrance The were only two p e men near this van.After a few minutes of discussion with the refuge of the lager, the demonstrating crowd took advantage of the fact that the gate was not closed and walk smartly into the lager. There are three sections the deportation centre,the reception centr and the family house or 220;the asylheim AS soon as the crowd got into the lager,in less than no time ,the er of police vans multiplied and many police men fill the place to pr k the demonstrators as usual.The demonstrators succeeded to g und the buildings singing protest songs calling for the closure o e lagerThe police gradually pushed the demonstrators out of the lager. One of the inhabitants of the lager declared that he renews his on a daily basis and that this is the situation for everybody,the longes stay is one week.Tthey receive neither money nor gut schein nor are they a ed to do any social work in the camp.They only get clothings from the ch or from the red cross and quite often are very old ones.cooked food is provided to them in the lager and the meals are always thesame principally e day in day out the year round.If they have to go to the town they onl ve to do it on foot,for they have no money. At about 1:45PM the convoy moved for the city c e of Halberstadt, accompanied by about 50 re es from the camp. A very powerful demonstratiion match was made round city accompanied by speeches .with all the speakers calling to a stop a nhuman treatments in the camps the closure of this camps and the recognition of asy right in GERMANY.Particularly,the convoy made a stop at the AUSLANDERBEHÖ with precise messages sent to Otto schilly through the police and the beh&oum er to stop racism.To reconsider his position about the lager in North A a for that is a racist act.This lager will not exist and the existing rs in Germany should be closed This was the position the refugees from Brandenburg.calling on the people of halberatadt tand up and fight against this racist and inhuman situation of the refug in their city.For it is a curse to their city.ON the part the refugees from halberstadt,they were very motivated that people have been mobilis nation wide to fight for their freedom.They are convince at freedom is only ceased so they are deteermind to continue the fight. At about 9:30 pm the convoy accompanied the refugees back into lager, and a hand full of them decided to continue with the convoy t e next stations. Most of the participants at this demo,are impressed it was successful as a good contact was established with the people in the lager,wh is one of the greatest aims of the ANTI LAGERTOUR,to fight against isolat in the lagers. The convoy was back in HANNOVER at about 11pm. The convoy continues tomorrow the 27-08-04 to parchim.The next s of the Anti-lager action tour,which is a nation wide prote gainst the inhuman handling of refugees in deportatin lagers.The general call is the ure of all lager and the right to live for all in GERMANY. |
